Are you looking for the safest high chair brands? There are a lot of factors to consider when buying a high chair but safety is obviously very important.

Well you may or not know that September is Baby Safety Month - of course safety for our little ones is always on our minds but it does no harm to be reminded of how important baby safety is.

Baby Safety Month is organized by The Juvenile Products Manufacturers Association, Inc. (JPMA) which is a national trade organization. The JPMA set up a voluntary certification program - for more information click here.

If you happen to be in a high chair retailer they may well have JPMA's Directory of Certified Products which lists the model numbers of approved products that you can take a look at. The current highchair manufacturers that take part in the JPMA certification program are:

    Baby Trend
    Bergeron By Design
    Chicco USA
    Dorel Juvenile Group/Cosco/safety 1st
    Evenflo Company, Inc.
    Fisher-Price
    Graco Children's Products, Inc.
    Kolcraft Enterprises, Inc.
    Peg Perego
    Scandinavian Child/Anka
    Scandinavian Child/Svan
    Stokke, Inc.
    Summer Infant

Any links above will take you to the relevant part of our store. The fact that a manufacturer does not appear in this list does not mean that their highchairs are unsafe. I guess at the end of the day you'll have to decide whether you prefer the reassurance of a JPMA certificate.

Also it's worth remembering that buying a safe high chair is only the first step - it's also important to use your high chair correctly. The JPMA provide some guidance here. There's also further advice from the US Consumer Safety Commission here.

I hope that this helps in some way if you're looking for the safest high chair brands.
